Main Subject: Leisure and Tourism in the All-out Development of a Well-to-do Chinese Society

 

The 2004¡ªChina: Conference on Leisure and Social Progress is to be held in Dalian, Liaoning Province in late May, 2004.  The conference will be co-sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Soft Science, Dalian Tourism Bureau, and the Center on the Study of Leisure Culture of the Chinese Academy of Art.  The journals Chinese Soft Science and Studies in the Dialectics of Nature will also contribute to the conference.

 

Part One: Conference Topic: Leisure and Tourism in the All-out Development of a Well-to-do Chinese Society

8 Tourism planning in China and in the West: the present situation and future prospect

9 Leisure and creativity in scientific discovery, technological invention, artistic creation, and literature

10  The meaning and value of tourism, entertainment, and sports in the cultural life of common people

11 The value orientation of Confucianism and Taoism toward leisure

12 The Marxist theory of leisure

13 Leisure-oriented tourism and the strategy for sustainable development

14 Study on the Leisure Charter of the United Nations

15 Study on leisure-oriented tourism from the perspectives of philosophy, sociology, behavioral science, and political science

Part two: Requirements for submitted papers

 

1 The paper should be on one of the main themes for the conference

2 The theme should be clear, the view should include something original, the argument should be clearly laid out, and attention should be given to using recent literature and new data.

3 It is suggested that the length of the paper is not to exceed 20000 words

4 All papers are to be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the conference, and selected papers will be published in a compendium.
